Motherhood

It's almost the weekend folks! You just gotta make it through the rest of work day. And if your a Domestic Diva - just make it 'til the ice cream truck starts singing :)

In light of Mother's Day weekend I wanted to share another side of my journey. I know everyone will define motherhood differently because it means something different to everyone. With Mother's Day approaching (no worries mom, I got your gift!) I came across this article in my church newsletter. I think it will help guide my journey to and through mommyhood and beyond:

"What does the Bible say about Christian mothers?"

Being a mother is a very important role that the Lord chooses to give to many women. A Christian mother is told to love her children (Titus 2:4-5), in part so that she does not bring reproach on the Lord and on the Savior whose name she bears. Several things are commanded of Christian mothers in God's Word:

Availability- morning, noon, and night (Deuteronomy 6:6-7)
Involvement- interacting, discussing, thinking, and processing life together (Ephesians 6:4)
Teaching- the Scriptures and biblical worldview (Psalm 78:5-6; Deuteronomy 4:10)
Training- helping a child to develop skills and discover his/her strengths (Proverbs 22:6) and spiritual gifts (Romans 12:3-8 and 1 Corinthians 12)
Discipline- teaching the fear of the Lord, drawing the line consistently, lovingly, firmly (Hebrews 12:5-11, Proverbs 13:24, 19:18, 22:15, 23:13-14, 29:15-17)
Nurture- providing an environment of constant verbal support, freedom to fail, acceptance, affection, unconditional love (Titus 2:4, 2 Timothy 1:7, Ephesians 4:29-32, Galatians 5:22)
Modeling with Integrity- living what you say, being a model from which a child can learn by "catching" the essence of godly living (Deuteronomy 4:9, 15, 23, Proverbs 10:9, 11:3)

Happy Friday! Enjoy your weekend!

Mommy Slacker?

So, apparently I'm a slacker.

I would have never pegged myself as a slacker but here's the thing: I'm participating in a onesie exchange with my lovely ladies over at thebump.com and everyone is excited because we had the draw and now we know who we will be exchanging onsies with. On the exchange website you can ask your person an anonymous question and someone asked me "What is your nursery theme?" my response: "I don't have one". I also don't have a registry started, names set in stone, know where my baby is going when I go back to work, or a birth plan. So, I guess I'm officially a mommy slacker.

I've even lost track of the 30 day challenge...again, and I don't have that much longer to go! My goal is to finish on time so I better get my butt in high gear!

Today I was also supposed to do my weekly update post but you see where this is going.

So slacker I will be. For now. I promise to get it together though- right after I take this nap...
