It's my birthday!!!

I have exactly one second to update this little space of mine to celebrate my birthday. I consider this day my 'new year'. I have so many goals, hopes, and dreams for this coming year ahead. But first birthday cake...

I have to take a moment to wish my better half a Happy Birthday!!! Sadly, I had to turn to the inter-webs for help on this one but it conveys the message that I want to tell.

Birthday on Birthdate

Birthday week continues with more recapping of our celebrations... I told you first birthdays are a big deal.

So on the day of his actual birthdate, we did a bit of minor celebrating.

Honestly, I couldn't believe a year had passed. I survived my first year of parenthood and had a healthy, happy baby to show for it. I woke up that morning feeling grateful and in awe. We still had to get ready for church but I took a peaceful and quite moment to Thank God for one of my greatest blessings. I was counting down the minutes until 10:08 am when my little guy would officially turn one. At the moment the clock struck 10:08 I scooped him up in my arms and sang Happy Birthday to him. Then I cried. It was a joyous moment for me reflecting on his birthday and how it had gotten a little scary for a bit but we made it through.

I think I sang Happy Birthday to him 20 more times that day.

Okay this is what you really care about. All the drama and hoopla is overshadowed by the fact that my little guy, my baby boy turned 1!!!! And trust me, you'll want to read this one to the end :D The party planner in me LOVES this part. So many people told me they were impressed and thought it was cute.

1st Birthday Party In Words

I can't believe this day has come and gone in the blink of an eye. It was almost as fast as my wedding day. I didn't have much time to reflect and be sappy about things because we were in the midst of so many changes. However, I will admit that I had been planning this for months- or at least coming up with ideas. I wish I had done a few things sooner but you live and learn.

For this momentous occasion, I chose a Dr. Seuss theme.

Happy SECOND Birthday!!!

Wow! This day has come a little faster than I had hoped. But nonetheless I am so happy that it is here!!!

Much to my dismay- I'll probably be going to work for the first half of the day then  from there we'll be playing it by ear. However, I have some much awaited posts scheduled for this week- it's birthday week here and I am so excited (cause you know my birthday is only 5 days away). I'm going to be sharing all the details of my son turning one hopefully to be followed up by all the details of him turning two (although I doubt it- just look at my track record).

Happy Birthday Chi-Chi!!!

Today is my cousin's 17th birthday!!! I can't believe she's 17 already- I remember my Aunt being pregnant with her and me eagerly awaiting her arrival.

For 12 years I was my maternal grandmother's only granddaughter. 4 boys in between. So when my aunt found out she was having a girl- I was all types of worried. I mean what princess wouldn't be worried about another little beauty encroaching on her throne?! But alas, as soon as she was born all of that went out of the window.

Over the years I've taken her in as my "daughter". We would hang out as much as possible. From chilling at home to girls day out shopping. She was my little sister. So, when I asked her what she wanted to do for her birthday this year she replied "I want to visit you!". I was excited to have her (and my aunt and brother) come spend the weekend with us. Since we had a long weekend, I thought it would be perfect if they came up so it wouldn't feel rushed. My husband found the perfect thing for us do to:

Inner tubing would be a first for us all. We didn't tell her what we were doing until the day of- I also kind of forgot to tell her to bring appropriate clothing but no worries- she can fit my clothes!!

It had snowed recently, but not really enough to cover the ski lodge so it was kind of weird to be in a huge patch of snow and then look out and not see it anymore. I also didn't get as many pictures as I'd like to because I wouldn't have been able to take my camera down the tube (I mean who would want to??) and it was cold- I mean fuh-ree-zing cold- too cold to be using my trigger finger to be snapping away. However, I was able to capture a few fun moments.

I think she we had fun :) And I'd like to wish my "chi-chi" a Happy 17th Birthday!!! Who told you to turn 17?! Love you!
